At least two drones struck energy infrastructure and facilities of U.S. contractors on Friday evening, according to two security officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak with the press. According to Associated Press the security officials added that unmanned aerial vehicles targeted a compound housing foreign oil company offices and warehouses, triggering fires at facilities linked to U.S. energy services firms. The attack comes amid a spate of drone and missile incidents across Iraq and the region, including strikes on oil fields and the cargo section of the Basra International Airport.
