Clint Eastwood's second film as a director finds the celebrated action star returning to his familiar Old West stomping grounds and his internationally acclaimed role of "The Man With No Name." This time, The Stranger (Clint Eastwood) mysteriously appears out of the heat waves of the desert and rides into the lawless, sin-ridden town of Lago. After making a name for himself with a string of blazing gun battles, The Stranger is hired by the townspeople to provide protection from three ruthless gunmen just out of jail. The Stranger quickly proceeds to paint the entire town bright red, rename it "Hell," and supply divine retribution in the fiery, pulse-pounding climax of this acclaimed western shoot-em-up.

Ukraine has unleashed a week of heavy strikes on Russia as a Volgograd went up in flames for the third time. Ukraine unleashed the new FP7 ballistic missile as targets in Samara, Perm, Rostov-on-Don, Ulyanovsk and an ammunition depot in Krasnozavodsk, Moscow were blitzed. Jerome Starkey brings you the latest news from the War in Ukraine as the 3rd Army Corps continues to make significant gains in Lyman, employing unorthodox tactics to break Russian lines. Putin has finally admitted that Zelensky’s deep strike campaign has hurt the Russian economy but Moscow has responded with a barbaric strike on the National Academy Of Sciences in Kyiv and a strike on the Pivdennyi bridge.

I examine Ukraine’s reported first combat use of the FP-7 tactical ballistic missile amid a major overnight drone and missile campaign against targets across Russia. With a reported range of up to 300 kilometers and a payload of up to 200 kilograms, the FP-7 could put Russia’s dense near-border logistics network, ammunition sites, airfields, and glide-bomb infrastructure at greater risk—if Ukraine can sustain serial production and employ it effectively.

I also break down reported strikes on the Samara oil-pumping and petrochemical complex, the Lukoil Volgograd refinery, and facilities in Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar, and elsewhere. On the defensive side, I assess Russia’s 108-drone attack on Ukraine, F-16 cannon intercepts, and Ukraine’s efforts to scale interceptor drones. Finally, I look at September’s battlefield figures: Russia reportedly seized 175 square kilometers but lost 256, while suffering 46,230 reported casualties.

00:00 FP-7 first combat use and overnight strike campaign
02:25 FP-7 range, payload, and Russia’s logistics buffer
05:03 Strikes across Russia and future reach toward Moscow
06:45 Moscow refinery smoke and reported Russian friendly fire
09:24 F-16 cannon intercepts and interceptor-drone production
11:33 Battlefield activity and Ukrainian operations
14:06 September losses, territorial balance, and Russia’s setbacks
16:15 FP-7 production and the strategic outlook

In this episode of The PDB Afternoon Bulletin:

• Russia issues a new nuclear warning to NATO, saying any attempt to cut off or attack the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad could trigger a response involving nuclear weapons as tensions continue to rise in the Baltic.

• Israeli officials say passengers and crew aboard a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv subdued the co-pilot after he allegedly stabbed the captain and attempted to crash the aircraft, forcing an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Flydubai says the reason for the altercation remains unknown.
